BASEBALL OR BUDGET?
Andrzejewski says, “The failure of leadership in Springfield continues as legislators take a ‘ditch day’ instead of dealing with the budget crisis, affecting real people.”

July 15, 2009—Champaign, IL – The Illinois General Assembly recessed after no more than a half an hour, neglecting to handle the budget crisis nearly two weeks after the legal deadline for a budget has passed. The session was cut short, as ABC 7 reported, as “dozens” of legislators wanted to attend the All Star Game in St. Louis. The result of no budget resolution is that many state employees will not receive their paychecks due to the budget impasse.
Republican candidate for Governor Adam Andrzejewski said the following, “The complete absence of leadership in Springfield is astounding. Instead of making tough decisions and crafting a budget, it has been reported that some state legislators skipped town to watch the All Star Game. It’s clear that the people are not their priority. The state may not make payroll, but at least legislators made the baseball game.”
Addressing the ongoing crisis, Andrzejewski will be spending the day in east central Illinois meeting with small business owners and concerned citizens to discuss how the state’s lack of a budget is affecting them. “We have a state that trails the nation in job growth and that pain is felt most by small businesses. Whatever budget emerges from Springfield, it must encourage job growth.”
