Tonight we learned the road to A New Day in Illinois is longer than we had hoped. But the fight we waged against the under performing Illinois establishment does not end tonight and certainly does not end with my campaign. Over the course of the last year, you have opened a new chapter in Illinois politics and renewed the Reagan revolution that first came to Illinois in 1976. Tea Parties, 9/12 organizations and other advocacy organizations have re-ignited the consciousness of conservatism. Your passion has captured the imagination of thousands of Illinoisans across our great state from Rockford to Carbondale; from Quincy to Danville. and created an unprecedented grassroots movement calling for honest, accountable, and limited government. Today, we may have been delayed, but we have not been denied.

I am committed to rebuilding our party and I am committed to re-laying the foundation with the values and principles our nation's founders knew to be essential for liberty: limited government, free enterprise, individual freedom and traditional American values.

I still believe that it's your turn. I still believe the dawn of a new day is rising in Illinois. And I still believe that what you have started over the course of the last year is epic and has already made history in so many ways. And, I am still with you, for Illinois.

I am pleased to announce that Mr. Lech Wałęsa, former President of Poland, will be the keynote speaker at a fundraising luncheon at the Union League Club of Chicago on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 12:00 PM Central.  Mr. Wałęsa will speak about post-Communist Poland as well as comment on my run for Governor of Illinois.



As you may recall, I traveled to Poland on a four-day fact-finding trip between November 30, 2009 and December 3, 2009, to discover how the State of Illinois can improve its economic and cultural relationship with the Republic of Poland in order to promote job growth, economic vitality, and increased international trade between the two.

In addition to serving as the elected President of the Republic of Poland from 1990 to 1995, Mr. Wałęsa is the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize (1983) after being imprisoned by Communist authorities for his opposition to General Wojciech Jaruzelski, the leader of Poland’s military government.

To the People of the Great State of Illinois:a

It is with great pleasure that I wholeheartedly endorse Adam Andrzejewski for the office of Governor of the State of Illinois. In writing these words I feel particularly touched because, sadly, it is so seldom in the United States that a Polish son becomes involved in politics. But I do not endorse Adam only because of his Polish roots.
 
I applaud Mr. Andrzejewski’s commendable effort to bring real reform to politics. His insistence on transparency in public life are badly needed not only in the great state of Illinois, but in any democracy. I have heard that Adam’s opponents criticize his lack of political experience. I still remember when some 30 years ago, my opponents were similarly critical of my lack of political background. History has shown, however, that in order to create real change, new factors are sometimes necessary. Adam Andrzejewski can be that factor for the State of Illinois.
 
I do hope, that what Adam Andrzejewski can bring change when elected for the office of Governor of the State of Illinois.
